Arnica montana is a world class pain medicine. Its virtues include quick resolution of bruising - even big purple post-op bruising, help in resolving sprains' swelling and inflammation, but most especially as an analgesic. My father worked hard at building and carpentry and at the end of his day always had tincture of Arnica at hand. Not homeopathic Arnica, mind you, but real concentration of the herbal remedy.
